Sewing Machine Reviews
Introduction:
I got my love for sewing from my mother. She used to make a lot of our clothes when we were little. I used to love helping her thread the sewing machine needle. I think my very first major sewing project was a denim jumper that I made in junior high. Later on, after I was married, I bought my first machine, and still use it to this day. I used it to make Halloween costumes, pillows, chair cushions, curtains, Christmas ornaments, and a variety of crafts. I made soft clowns, stuffed animals, and ornaments, and sold them at craft fairs. One time, my mother and I attempted to make stuffed baby dolls. I stuffed the head so much it was way out of proportion. We laughed ’til we cried. It is one of many fun memories I have of my mother.
I was never a fashionista but I did sew some clothing. I made a pair of jeans once, with a zipper. That was a real accomplishment for me.
We have attempted to find the best deals in sewing machines. Some you can find in chain stores, most can be found online. We have found that the basic mechanical sewing machines are a little more difficult to use than the more expensive electronic models. With the basic models, most reviewers note that it may take some trial and error to adjust the tension of the thread just right. They may not have some of the nicer features, such as up/down needle with the press of a button, as opposed to turning the wheel to raise and lower the needle. These features are more important to some than others, but if price is a major factor most can do without these features.
We have broken down our sewing machine reviews into several categories, as follows:
- Basic Mechanical Sewing Machines
- Electronic Sewing Machines
- Computerized Sewing Machines
- Industrial Sewing Machines
- Top Embroidery Machines
- Top Sergers/Overlock Sewing Machines
